Join our new movie-of-the-month online discussion club

Hello Reader,

I've been talking to fellow movie lovers recently and finding that we're all struggling to pick a great movie to watch and actually watch it.

There are so many choices, and we don't want to be the only ones watching the movie. So instead, we end up watching the latest zeitgeist movie that isn't really for us, streaming something we didn't really want to watch, or just not being able to pick, so we watch nothing at all.

I realized you might be having this problem, too.

So I’m starting the Reel Ruminators Movie Club!

Each month, I’ll handpick one extraordinary under-the-radar movie (usually international, queer, female-directed, or otherwise off-the-beaten-path) to watch and discuss with other film enthusiasts. Dive into intellectually and emotionally nourishing cinema, share your thoughts, and do it all stress-free.

This is for the passionate movie lover seeking thought-provoking films but struggling with the vast selection. It’s for the cinematic adventurer who wants to take risks with their viewing by looking outside the zeitgeist or the algorithms — but not do it all alone.

Here’s what’s included:

  • 1 x hand-picked extraordinary film to watch each month (and info on where to watch it)
  • 1 x 90-minute live Zoom meet-up each month. I’ll introduce the film, offer some discussion questions, and then break you off into small groups of fellow movie lovers from around the world to discuss the film!
  • Bonus: Discussion questions to get you started on your thinking before the call and guide the live discussion
  • Bonus: Resources to explore the film more deeply through interviews and criticism (by the Seventh Row Team or people we recommend!)

Cost: $30 USD/month OR $80 USD/3 months.

Our first month starts on July 5. Doors are now open. They close on Thursday, July 3 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Hope to see you there!

Best,

Alex

P. S. If you have any questions about whether this is a good fit for you right now, please hit reply and ask! I’m on the other side of this email.
